Aviation Impacted by Tension in US-China Relations

Aviation Impacted by Tension in US-China Relations: China’s aviation authority announced today that it would permit foreign airlines to increase flights to the country from June 8.The news came just hours after the United State government issued an order to suspend Chinese passenger airlines from operating to the US from June 16.The statement from the Civil Aviation Administration of China did not refer to the US decision. The new policy would allow all foreign airlines to choose from a list of approved Chinese cities to gain rights to operate one international passenger flight per week.Tensions between Washington and Beijing have been building since the US Department of Transport accused China of not allowing US airlines to resume their Chinese operations after suspending them due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For updates on this story, visit UAS Blog
